The year was 2015. Gauri was in the 10th grade, making a crucial decision about her career path. Growing up in a family of doctors, she admired their work. She decided to follow the same path, setting aside a voice within her that longed for a creative outlet. Little did she know that the coming years would inevitably lead her to a creative profession.

The Love For The Stage
In school, Gauri Walecha was an award-winning public speaker, representing her school at various inter-school competitions. This activity introduced her to the art of crafting impactful speeches and delivering them with confidence. Four years of her experience as a public speaker made her fall in love with the power of words. But eventually, she left public speaking to focus on her NEET preparation.
“I still remember the last time I was on stage and the feeling I felt when leaving. It felt like I had left a part of my soul with that mic, forever,” said Gauri when we asked her what detaching from Public speaking felt like.
Struggles During The NEET Preparation
Giving up on a passion is always challenging, especially for creative individuals. They need a creative outlet to keep them happy. Gauri believed she was one of those few creative people who can completely detach themselves from their passion. But she wasn’t.
Anxiety and depression set in a few months after she began preparing. The pressure of the competition made it worse for her. Grades started to drop, too, giving rise to more academic pressure. To feel better, she revived the blog she abandoned in 2015.
“My first post got me five followers. The number may not seem so big, but it made me feel visible at that moment. It felt like I was back on the stage. It inspired me to explore my potential.”, Gauri told HerStartupStory during her interview.
This blog soon grew to have a monthly traffic of more than 17,000 visitors and 1,800+ subscribers. When she turned 18, she documented her progress in a case study and started applying for freelance content writing roles. She had an opportunity in her hands even before college began.
From Content Writing To Brand Consultancy
Content writing opportunities soon evolved into content marketing roles. Gauri even went ahead and became an intern at an upcoming newspaper. During these roles, she developed a strong acumen for marketing, pursued multiple courses, and upskilled as a branding professional.
As the digital marketing head of a Delhi-based clinic, she grew their YouTube channel from scratch to 38,000 subscribers.The stellar results helped her go after bigger opportunities. Today, she is one of the Top Brand Consultants in India, helping national and international businesses position their brands in the market.
The Path Ahead: Entrepreneurship and More!
Today, Gauri runs two businesses: Unapology Branding Co., a branding firm specializing in launch funnels and go-to-market strategies, and Mystic Cove Store, a themed accessories brand catering to spiritually inclined audiences.
