The world of artisanal desserts is evolving beyond taste alone. Today’s pâtisserie is as much about storytelling, aesthetics, and experience as it is about flavour. Across the globe, dessert brands are moving away from mass production and leaning into intention, craftsmanship, and visual identity. People no longer just want something sweet. They want something that feels personal, thoughtful, and memorable.
In this shifting landscape, Layered Atelier stands out as a brand that blends classic French technique with a design-led sensibility. Founded by Radhika Krishnatray, Layered Atelier is not just a dessert studio, but an emotional and visual experience rooted in elegance, detail, and meaning.

From Design School to Dessert Studio
Radhika Krishnatray’s journey into pâtisserie did not begin in a kitchen, but in the world of design. While pursuing her professional degree at NIFT, New Delhi, she continued nurturing her love for cooking and baking through small bake sales. Even then, creativity and structure went hand in hand. Her background trained her to think in terms of form, balance, and composition.
The turning point came during the Covid period, which Radhika describes as a silver lining. She made the bold decision to step away from her interiors business and pursue a professional diploma in pâtisserie. Training at Le Cordon Bleu opened up a new dimension of creative expression. Once she entered the world of pastry, there was no looking back. On 15th October 2023, Layered Atelier was officially launched, marking the start of a new chapter built on both discipline and artistry.

A Philosophy Rooted in Layering and Mindful Luxury
At its core, Layered Atelier exists to create desserts that feel intentional, refined, and deeply personal. The brand is grounded in classic pâtisserie techniques, but guided by a design-led approach that values restraint over excess. Every creation reflects a belief in quality over trends and timelessness over novelty.
Layering is the heart of the atelier’s philosophy. Not just of flavours and textures, but of stories and memories too. The brand embraces mindful luxury that is elegant, understated, and never loud. Honest craftsmanship is central to the process. Each dessert is handcrafted, technique-driven, and never rushed. More than anything, Layered Atelier is about connection. Its pieces are created to mark moments, celebrations, and milestones, leaving behind not just a dessert, but a memory.

Crafting Experiences Through Aesthetic and Intention
Food styling and presentation are what truly set Layered Atelier apart. With a strong design background, Radhika approaches desserts the way one would approach a visual composition. Balance, proportion, texture, and negative space are all carefully considered. Colour palettes, plating, and table layouts are intentional and cohesive, creating a sense of quiet luxury.
This design-led mindset extends into every offering. From petit fours like macarons, financiers, and madeleines, to layered signature cakes, tiramisu, éclairs, and bespoke dessert creations, each piece feels curated rather than mass-produced. The atelier also offers gifting services, corporate orders, and dessert catering for intimate gatherings and celebrations. Whether it is a small box of cookies or a full dessert table, the experience is always thoughtful, personal, and aligned with the brand’s refined aesthetic.

Layered Atelier is still in its early years, but its direction is clear. With plans to one day open a physical space and expand into larger-scale events and savoury offerings, the brand is growing with intention. In a world where dessert is becoming more about experience than indulgence alone, Layered Atelier represents a new kind of pâtisserie. One that is rooted in craft, guided by design, and built on emotion.
